MEETINGS

Acqua/Terra (Water/Earth)

On June 7 2015, an interdisciplinary round table was held in the conference room of the Abbazia di Rosazzo, a short walk from the Vigne Museum. Acqua/Terra (Water/Earth) was an occasion for sharing which is offered every year by the Vigne Museum. Many personalities took part in this meeting, from the world of art, science and culture took part including IRWIN (a collective of Slovenian artists active since 1983 with worldwide recognition), Stefano Mancuso (Professor at the University of Florence and director of LINV – the International Plant Neurobiology Laboratory), Andrea Maroè (Agronomist, Certified Ornamental Urban Arboriculture Professor, Master Tree-climbing Instructor), Stefano Moriggi (professor of the Philosophy of Science at the Bicocca University, Milan), Blaž Peršin (Director of the Museums and Galleries of Ljubljana - MGML) and Giuliano Sergio (independent critic and curator, professor of art history at the Academy of Urbino).

The moderator of the meeting was Edoardo Vigna, editor-in-chief of the weekly news and lifestyle supplement Sette for Corriere della Sera.

Two important projects relating to the theme of water were introduced: Project Water, which opened in Ljubljana in June 2015 when the city was European Green Capital, and the revolutionary Jellyfish Barge carried out by LINV, runner-up in the United Nations UNECE Ideas for Change Award and also presented at EXPO 2015.

Water therefore as a topic of global importance, as a life resource for the planet.

Earth, on the other hand, is the cornerstone on which the Vigne Museum is based. Earth as a second theme opened the discussions with a focus on agriculture as a basis for sustenance, as an ecosystem and in a wider way, as an environment to be protected and safeguarded.
