NOW Summer School

Architecture for Nature was the theme of the NOW Summer School, the first educational project promoted by the Livio Felluga Company in the role of main sponsor, which took place from 7 to 10 September 2017 at the Abbazia di Rosazzo (UD) and at the Vigne Museum.

Hosted by the Livio Felluga Company, 12 young architects, coordinated by NOW - New Operation Wave, participated in a training experience in close contact with the land.

NOW - New Operation Wave is an network which operates internationally, supported by the Zerynthia Association for Contemporary Art ODV, working through the principles of self-management, of experiential sharing and direct discussion between the various participants, young interpreters of contemporary culture, who belong to a network that has grown and become established over time through a series of checkpoints, organized internationally since 2015. The intention is to create small yet crucial working groups to develop a project related to art, architecture, design, for the development of a generation who play an active role in the field.

The young architects, artists, curators and students involved in the Summer School come from academic centres of Architecture, Fine Arts and Design, as well as from institutions already linked to achieving Yona Friedman’s mobile architecture.

Following the advice of Yona Friedman with Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, the participants in the Summer School designed seats and wind and sun shields to be put into the Vigne Museum on the model of the circular modules of which it is made up. Only waste materials closely related to the Region were used in their creation, discovered during on-the-spot investigations and reinvented following Friedman's thinking, in accordance with the criteria of autonomy, adaptability, sustainability, self-organization and self-planning.
